About
The transparent stock scanner.
Tapeline gives each US stock one score from 0 to 100, built from six things we name, and shows you what is behind each score. The point isn’t a secret formula — anyone can blend a few factors. The point is that you can see how it works.
Why this exists
Tapeline started as the internal scoring engine for a personal trading bot. The bot worked, but every paid stock scanner the founder paid for over five years had the same problem: the formula was a black box. That is solvable with discipline, not technology.
Tapeline solves it: the six named factors are what each score looks at, and every ticker page shows its six factor scores. Whether you stay or leave, you make that call from the data — not from a marketing page.
Who built it
Tapeline is built by a solo founder with a decade of software engineering experience and an active personal trading workflow. The same scoring engine still runs the founder’s personal trading system, which paper-trades through Alpaca on the same scores. Tapeline is the public version of that work. The founder’s own account is in a note from the founder.

Building on Tapeline? The developers page covers the API and the MCP server. Whether the site and its data feeds are up is on the status page.
